Job summary

University of Iowa College of Engineering seeks an Academic Advisor and Recruitment Specialist to provide comprehensive academic advising and transition support to undergraduate engineering students, with first-year focus. The role includes orientation delivery, academic planning, and navigation of policies to promote student persistence.

Additionally, the position supports recruitment and engagement for prospective students, coordinating College programs and resources for current students

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; master's preferred in education or related field.
• Minimum two years of experience in student recruitment, admissions, or advising.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to work with diverse populations.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary academic advisor for a selected population of students.
• Advise on policies, programs of study, and development of academic plans.
• Document interactions and advising activities in university systems.
• Identify student interests and goals to support academic success.
• Promote opportunities enriching academic experience and personal development.
• Teach students to navigate college life and take responsibility for success.
• Represent University of Iowa College of Engineering to high schools and community colleges to promote enrollment.
• Deliver presentations and information sessions for prospective students and guests.
• Participate in recruitment, hiring, training, and development of Student Ambassador staff.
• Serve as Engineering Campus Partner for PIE Living and Learning Community.
