Job summary

College of Southern Nevada is seeking an Academic Advisor to support first-time, returning, and transfer students with orientation, degree planning, and path mapping for timely graduation. The role emphasizes VA education benefits, FERPA, and collaboration with student services to improve retention and graduation rates.

The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree and at least 3 years of advising in higher education, with strong communication and organizational skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Liberal Arts, Social Science, or related field from an accredited college/university; Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 3 years advising experience in a higher education setting.

Responsibilities

• Provide advisement and orientation services to first-time, returning, and transfer students.
• Assist students with planning coursework, SAP/residency/credit appeals as needed.
• Serve as VA School Certifying Official and assist with VA benefits processing.
• Maintain FERPA compliance and communicate effectively with students, parents, faculty, and staff.
• Collaborate with campus resources to support student success and retention.
