Job summary

Collins Aerospace in Foley, Alabama, is seeking a Mechanical Assembler V – Group Lead to supervise and perform complex assembly on the OEM line, interpreting blueprints and leading a technical team on day‑to‑day production.

The role emphasizes leadership, quality, and safety while collaborating with Engineering, Quality, and Operations to drive improvements and ensure on‑time delivery of critical aircraft components.

Qualifications

• Typically requires HS diploma (or equivalent, e.g. G.E.D in the US) or vocational/technical education in related discipline with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.
• Certification or credentials may be required for some roles
• 2+ years of aerospace manufacturing experience.
• 2+ years of experience reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, engineering drawings, and/or technical work instructions.
• 2+ years of experience using hand tools, power tools, precision measuring equipment, and/or related manufacturing equipment.
• 1+ year of experience with Continuous Improvement tools or methodologies.
• Demonstrated experience leading, training, mentoring, coordinating, or providing technical guidance to others in a manufacturing, military, technical, or similar team environment.

Responsibilities

• Work onsite at Foley, AL facility, Monday – Friday, 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM.
• Perform complex mechanical assembly, rework, and repair activities per engineering specs and safety requirements.
• Serve as a working Group Lead and technical resource for Mechanical Assemblers.
• Assist team members with interpreting blueprints and work instructions and provide guidance on assembly methods.
• Coordinate workflow and daily priorities and elevate concerns to leadership.
• Mentor, train, and support team members and promote teamwork and quality.
• Troubleshoot assembly and production issues and recommend solutions or process improvements.
• Collaborate with Operations leadership, Engineering, Quality, and other stakeholders on status and CI/CORE activities.
