Job summary

Akima Mission Optimization (AMO) is seeking a mid‑level A&A Specialist III to oversee security and privacy control assessments across DOE systems, including cloud and on‑prem environments.

The role focuses on evaluating control effectiveness, preparing comprehensive assessment reports, and guiding remediation efforts while coordinating with SAT, SCA, ISSO, TPOC, and system owners. DOE background would be advantageous.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or four years of equivalent professional experience.
• Minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience conducting security control assessments.
• Experience overseeing assessments with SAT, SCA, ISSO, TPOC, System Owners, and Assessment Coordinators.
• Strong understanding of NIST SP 800-53 and the NIST Cybersecurity Framework.
• Oversight experience assessing security controls aligned with NIST RMF and SP 800-53.
• Ability to analyze technical documentation and communicate findings clearly.
• Understanding of continuous monitoring and system inheritance concepts.
• Ability to obtain DOE Q clearance.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and lead comprehensive assessments of security and privacy controls.
• Lead evaluation of deficiency severity and recommend corrective actions.
• Prepare detailed security and privacy assessment reports for review.
• Oversee assessments in Cloud environments (SaaS, PaaS, IaaS) and on‑prem.
• Review A&A packages including ARW, SAP, SAR, and risk assessments.
• Review findings packages outlining findings, remediation, and overview in meetings.
• Review significant system change requests and potential security impacts.
• Review vulnerability scans, POA&Ms, network diagrams for accuracy.
• Lead data calls for audits such as FISMA.
