Job summary

The City of Minneapolis is seeking a proactive supervisor to oversee the 911 Emergency Communications Center. You will manage PST II and PST III staff, craft schedules, monitor performance, and ensure high-quality, rapid responses to public safety calls.

Responsibilities include mentoring staff, handling escalated calls, and coordinating with partner agencies while upholding departmental policies and city guidelines.

Qualifications

• Three years of experience in a 911 Center performing call processing and dispatching duties.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• State Certification in CJIS operations within 6 months; ICS 100, 200, 700, 800 within 6 months.
• Supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide shift supervision for the 911 Emergency Communications Center, overseeing PST II & PST III.
• Prepare work schedules, approve changes, and manage absences to maintain service levels.
• Audit attendance and payroll records for accuracy.
• Mentor and coach probationary staff to support development.
• Intercede on calls to diffuse situations and ensure dispatch continuity.
• Publish communication plans for critical events and coordinate with stakeholders.
• Participate in department/enterprise work groups and complete special projects.
