Job summary

MITRE is seeking a Principal 5G/nextG Cybersecurity Architect to integrate AI capabilities for secure next-generation communications for Federal Government sponsors. You will lead interoperability, zero trust, and architecture design across 5G networks and cloud platforms.

Applicants should have extensive 5G/nextG Telecom experience, threat-informed security expertise, and the ability to communicate complex findings to executives and engineers. On-site work with Top Secret readiness is required.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a minimum of 10 years of related experience with a bachelor's degree; 8 years with a master's; or 5 years with a PhD, or equivalent.
• Advanced ability to architect secure enterprise solutions and apply zero trust to complex nextG systems.
• Expertise in 3GPP, ENISA and GSMA 5G/nextG standards, security considerations, and architecture design.

Responsibilities

• Develop secure 5G/nextG cellular architectures and reference designs for government customers.
• Lead enterprise 5G/nextG strategies, roadmaps, standards, and governance.
• Plan and execute 5G/nextG cybersecurity architecture and research in USG projects.
• Advance secure use of AI, ML, automation, and zero trust in next-generation systems.
• Translate 3GPP/5G standards into architecture decisions, security requirements and implementation guidance.
• Create architectural solutions and metrics for wireless infrastructure across installations.
• Develop and evolve 5G reference architectures ensuring security, resilience, and interoperability.
• Apply security controls for network security, IAM, app security, data protection, and cloud-hosted systems.
