Job summary

OPTIMAL BALANCE PHARMACY LLC in Houston, TX is seeking a 503A Compounding Pharmacist to oversee sterile and non-sterile compounding, ensure QA and regulatory compliance, and review final releases for accuracy and safety.

The role requires strong knowledge of compounding regulations (USP 795/797/800), master formulations, documentation, and supervision of technicians to maintain patient safety and product quality in a fast-paced pharmacy setting.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from an accredited school.
• Active pharmacist license in good standing in the states required by the pharmacy.
• Must be IV Certified.
• Experience working in a compounding pharmacy environment preferred.
• Knowledge of USP compounding standards, including USP <795>, <797>, and <800>.

Responsibilities

• Provide pharmacist oversight of daily sterile and/or non-sterile compounding operations.
• Supervise and support compounding technicians and other authorized personnel.
• Ensure compounded preparations are prepared according to master formulation records and USP requirements.
• Monitor workflow, production priorities, staffing, and workload in the compounding department.
• Verify ingredients, equipment, and documentation before starting compounding.
• Ensure garbing, hand hygiene, aseptic technique, and contamination-control procedures are followed.
• Identify quality concerns and stop compounding when safety or compliance is at risk.
• Assist with training and competency assessment of compounding personnel.
• Promote a culture of accuracy, accountability, cleanliness, and patient safety.
