Job summary

Idex is seeking an exceptionally skilled High‑Precision Machinist to join our Rapid Prototyping Cell in Farmington, CT. This role supports aerospace, defense, and semiconductor projects with tight tolerances and fast turnarounds.

You will program, set up, and operate 5-axis+ milling and turning centers, collaborate with Process Engineering, PMs, QC, and R&D, and drive scalable, cost‑effective machining strategies while upholding the highest quality standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in high-precision, close-tolerance machining, preferably within aerospace, defense, or semiconductor sectors.
• Proven operational and programming proficiency with 5‑Axis Milling Machines, Twin Spindle Turning Centers, and Bridgeport‑style conventional milling machines.
• Experience manufacturing components for demanding sectors (Aerospace, Defense, Semiconductor).
• Strong collaboration with engineering, quality, and management teams.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, rapid-turnaround environment.

Responsibilities

• Program, set up, and operate 5-axis+ milling and turning centers to produce complex parts.
• Execute rapid prototyping with CNC and conventional milling, turning, and grinding.
• Serve as machining SME for prototyping phase and coordinate with Process Engineering, PMs, QC, and R&D.
• Analyze processes and recommend scalable, cost-effective machining strategies.
• Conduct in-process and final inspections to ensure aerospace/defense/semiconductor quality standards.
• Maintain safety and contribute to a high-performance team environment.
• Manage multiple concurrent projects and adapt to shifting priorities.
