Job summary

Anduril Industries is seeking a Prototype CNC Machinist to take complex parts from handoff to finished, inspected hardware. You will set up and run multi-axis CNC equipment, establish tooling and offsets, prove out programs, and inspect critical features under tight timelines.

You will collaborate with CNC programmers and engineers to adapt toolpaths and manufacturing approaches in a fast-paced, high-precision R&D environment that values speed and quality in equal measure.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of hands-on CNC machining experience with independent setup and operation.
• Experience setting up and running multi-axis CNC equipment, including 3+2 or similar complex milling/turning.
• Working knowledge of GD&T, blueprints, G/M code, tooling, offsets, feeds and speeds, and dimensional inspection.
• Ability to independently perform setup, prove-out, machining, troubleshooting, and inspection.
• Experience with precision inspection tools (micrometers, calipers, indicators, height gauges, bore gauges).
• Ability to work in a low-volume, high-mix prototype environment in aerospace/defense contexts.

Responsibilities

• Own CNC setups from start to finish—review the job, stock, fixtures, tooling, offsets, prove out program and machine the part.
• Run complex multi-axis equipment across 3+2, 5-axis, turning, live-tooling, and multitask environments.
• Translate drawings/models into hardware by interpreting GD&T, datum structures, tolerances, and critical dimensions.
• Catch problems early by reviewing toolpaths and machining conditions and adjust feeds, speeds, or offsets as needed.
• Inspect in-process work with precision metrology tools and verify critical dimensions before part removal.
• Collaborate with CNC programmers and engineers when programs or approaches must change.
• Operate with ownership and urgency in a rapid R&D environment delivering one-off hardware in days.
