Job summary

CoStar Group's Matterport team seeks a Senior Machine Learning R&D Engineer in Sunnyvale, CA. The role focuses on advancing 3D reconstruction, neural rendering, and generative modeling for digital twins, training on proprietary spatial data.

You will collaborate with researchers, platform engineers, and product teams to translate frontier ideas into production-ready capabilities used across 170+ countries. This is a hands-on research and engineering role aiming to push the state of the art.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
• Experience in machine learning research and development, with a focus on computer vision, 3D data processing, neural rendering, or generative modeling.
• Proficiency in PyTorch and Python.
• Strong fundamentals in deep learning architectures, optimization, and evaluation.
• Experience with data manipulation libraries (NumPy, Pandas).
• Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research and implement solutions.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Research, design, and train large-scale models for 3D reconstruction and generative scene completion using proprietary data.
• Advance neural rendering and novel view synthesis for indoor and outdoor spaces.
• Develop generative approaches including diffusion models and 3D generation.
• Design scalable training and inference pipelines for large 3D datasets.
• Translate research prototypes into production-ready systems with engineering teams.
• Define evaluation methodologies and benchmarks for reconstruction quality and plausibility; drive improvements.
• Stay current with neural rendering, generative modeling, and 3D vision advances.
• Collaborate with product managers, software engineers, and researchers on scope and feasibility.
• Contribute to architectural design and strategic roadmap of reconstruction models and ML initiatives.
• Contribute to IP through patents and publications and represent work to the research community.
