Job summary

Matterport is seeking a Senior Machine Learning/Computer Vision Engineer to lead research, design, and deployment of state-of-the-art ML/CV systems on the Vision & Learning team. You will influence the full pipeline from intelligent capture guidance to 3D reconstruction and asset delivery.

This on-site role in Sunnyvale, CA requires collaboration across hardware, software, and product teams, and strong Python and C++ coding skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a quantitative field with strong fundamentals.
• 3+ years hands-on ML/vision experience and production-ready software skills.
• Proficient in Python and C++. Knowledge of 3D geometry and multi-view reconstruction.
• Experience with PyTorch, JAX, OpenCV; Git and Agile development experience.
• Strong problem-solving and communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Research, develop and improve camera pose estimation for robust localization.
• Advance mesh generation, surface reconstruction and texturing pipelines.
• Design intelligent systems using semantic scene understanding to guide capture.
• Apply deep learning across the vision pipeline to improve robustness.
• Collaborate with hardware, software and product teams to address failure modes.
• Contribute to data collection, model training, evaluation frameworks and deployment.
• Prototype novel CV/ML techniques to improve speed and quality of 3D reconstructions.
• Stay current with CV and 3D ML advances and translate research into production.
• Write high-quality, tested Python and C++ code.
