Job summary

Milton Keynes City Council is recruiting an Experts at Hand Children and Young Person Engagement Practitioner to help ensure the voices of children with SEND shape local schools and services. You will build relationships with schools, listen to experiences, and identify changes to improve engagement and outcomes.

The role leads pupil engagement, developing accessible activities and translating feedback into practical inclusion strategies within mainstream education.

Qualifications

• Experience engaging children and young people with SEND.
• Ability to translate feedback into action for schools and services.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Work with schools to capture the experiences and views of children and young people with SEND and use their feedback to support better engagement, attendance and outcomes.
• Lead the development, coordination and delivery of accessible and creative pupil voice activities, ensuring children and young people can meaningfully contribute.
• Communicate local SEN strategy and reform plans in ways children and young people can understand, feeding contributions into wider partnership planning.
• Turn pupil feedback into practical approaches that strengthen inclusion within mainstream education.
• Maintain accurate records and use information and technology to demonstrate impact of interventions.
• Build collaborative relationships with schools, families, colleagues and other services, advocating for the perspective of children and young people.
