Job summary

Connex Education Partnership is seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with additional needs in mainstream primary schools across Taunton.

You will contribute to tailored support plans, collaborate with teachers, and help pupils access the curriculum while fostering inclusive learning environments. Flexible day-to-day supply or longer-term placements are available to match your experience and availability.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working as an SEN Teaching Assistant or in a similar role is essential.
  • Strong understanding of SEN and additional needs.
  • Experience supporting pupils with autism, ADHD, SEMH, or other additional needs.
  • Experience providing one-to-one and small group support.
  • Patient, caring, and understanding approach.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEN.
  • Support pupils with a range of additional needs, including autism, ADHD, and SEMH.
  • Work closely with class teachers and SENCOs to support individual learning needs.

  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils and staff.
  • Create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
  • Follow individual support plans and contribute to monitoring pupils’ progress.

Key Responsibilities
