Job summary

Applied Materials is seeking a Field Service Engineer (Customer Engineer) to install, maintain, and upgrade semiconductor manufacturing equipment at customer sites. You will troubleshoot, perform preventive maintenance, and coordinate with customers to minimize downtime.

The role requires up to 75% travel, extensive hands-on technical work, and collaboration with senior engineers to resolve complex issues. A strong mechanical background and customer-facing communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent technical training or trade certification.
• 2–4 years in semiconductor or equipment-support industry.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum, and/or thermodynamics.
• Experience with hand tools and digital multimeters.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel; passport if required.
• Able to meet on-site safety and environmental requirements.

Responsibilities

• Install, troubleshoot, and upgrade Applied Materials equipment at customer sites.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical, mechanical, vacuum, hydraulic, plasma, and gas systems.
• Diagnose equipment issues and implement solutions with support from senior engineers.
• Build strong customer relationships through effective communication and technical support.
• Collaborate with customers and internal teams to understand production goals and equipment requirements.
• Document service activities and provide timely updates to customers and team members.
• Share technical knowledge and support the development of less-experienced engineers.
• Follow all safety, environmental, and quality procedures.
