Job summary

OpenAI's Forward Deployed Engineering team is seeking a Deployment Lead based in San Francisco. You will own end-to-end delivery for complex semiconductor deployments, embedding with customer teams and translating business outcomes into a technical plan.

You will coordinate with OpenAI FDE, researchers, and customer engineers to ship solutions on schedule. This role requires deep technical program management, 7+ years of leadership, and the ability to operate in high-ambiguity environments.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of customer-facing technical delivery leadership.
• Deep expertise in Semiconductor workflows: RTL design, verification, EDA tooling, physical implementation.
• Proven track record leading large, complex customer engagements with AI initiatives.
• Ability to simplify ambiguity and translate requirements into concrete delivery plans.
• Strong strategic thinking and execution alignment skills.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical delivery plan for multiple interdependent work streams.
• Run day-to-day engineering execution across OpenAI FDE and customer teams.
• Embed with Semiconductor teams to land production deployments and drive adoption.
• Shape deployments that integrate with customer infrastructure and toolchains.
• Partner with Product and Research to land components on schedule.
• Codify reusable patterns and field signals to improve products.
• Define value cases, KPIs, and measure pre-/post deployment impact.
• Engage with customers onsite to accelerate delivery (25-50% travel).
