Job summary

ALS is seeking a Semi-Volatile Organics Analyst to supervise environmental samples using GC/MS and to review data before client delivery. The role includes instrument maintenance, method development, and ensuring data quality in line with EPA methods.

You will work with Agilent GC/MS, maintain LIMS documentation, and contribute to SOP updates. Travel to additional labs may be required; strong problem-solving and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience with Agilent GC/MS instrumentation.
• General knowledge of organic chemistry fundamentals; ability to understand terminology and principles to comply with analytical methods.
• Strong computer skills with Excel and Microsoft Word; ability to learn a laboratory information management system.
• Ability to multi-task, organized, detail oriented, with excellent problem-solving capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Oversee entire analytical process including instrument set up, sample analysis, and data review using Agilent GC/MS and EPA methods.
• Maintain familiarity with the laboratory information management system (LIMS).
• Keep documentation on calibration, inspection, and repair activities.
• Assist in SOP development and updates; participate in data package preparation for clients.
