Job summary

Construction Materials Testing seeks a seller-doer engineer with a PE license who can operate both in a contractor's office and at the job site. You will manage client relationships, price and scope projects, and seal geotechnical and materials testing reports.

You will develop new business while the laboratory, field staff, and quality system are provided by the company; travel to client offices and sites is required as part of the role.

Qualifications

• Active PE license in the state of posting
• 6+ years in construction materials testing, geotechnical engineering, or special inspection with client-facing responsibility
• Record of bringing in work or a credible plan to in-market business development
• Comfortable pricing, negotiating, and saying no to a bad contract

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a book of clients — general contractors, owners, developers, and design firms — for materials testing, special inspection, and geotechnical services
• Scope, price, and write proposals; negotiate terms
• Convert opportunities into signed work and seal reports and letters as engineer of record
• Direct technicians and inspectors on projects and coordinate with the laboratory on testing schedules
• Represent the company at owner meetings, pre-construction meetings, and industry events in your market
