Job summary

Food Lion is seeking a Front End Associate at our Raleigh, NC location to deliver fast, friendly service and operate self-checkout stations. You will greet customers, guide them through checkout, and maintain a neat front-end area in compliance with standards.

Responsibilities include assisting customers with self-checkout, handling payments, and upholding Food Lion service guidelines while maintaining a professional appearance in uniform.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
• Effective communication and customer service skills.
• Ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements of the job.
• Must meet minimum age requirements to perform specific job functions.
• Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations.

Responsibilities

• Smile and provide prompt, accurate and friendly service while engaging customers to create a positive shopping experience.
• Greet each customer and use their name whenever possible.
• Assist customers on how to use Self-checkouts properly including hand scanner use for a Fast and Easy checkout.
• Respond timely to customer inquiries and self-checkout system notifications.
• Monitor multiple self-checkouts for proper customer usage including scanning of all items.
• Remind customers of items located on the bottom of the cart or under baby seats before completing the transaction.
• When needed, assist in scanning the customer’s order and provide instructions on payment.
• Complete self-checkout voids, age-restricted item verifications and any other SCO assist function in accordance with Front End Standard Practice.
• Follow procedures in handling proper acceptance and payment processing at self-checkout for checks and coupons.
• Maintain alertness and call for assistance when needed to service customers per service standards.
• Engage and identify self-checkout customers needing assistance.
• Wear the Food Lion uniform with name badge on duty and maintain neat appearance according to dress code.
• Collect and return shopping carts from the self-checkout area.
• Ensure the self-checkout area is neat and clean.
• Report self-checkout issues to the Customer Service Manager or MOD.
• Adhere to company guidelines, policies and standard practices.
• Ability to perform troubleshooting steps on self-checkout as needed.
• Observe and correct unsafe conditions that could cause accidents.
• Notify QA of cleaning issues or maintenance required on front end.
• Complete computer-based training (CBT) and training aid courses.
• Ensure self-checkouts are stocked with proper bags.
• Perform all other duties as assigned
