Job summary

Heartland Co-op seeks a role to support seed advisors and the seed sales manager with daily tasks, coordinate seed orders, and work with locations on delivery and treatment. You will collaborate with the agronomy sales team to assess patron needs, develop solutions, and implement growth programs.

You will collect performance data of hybrids, scout fields, and help build marketing plans for upcoming seasons, while maintaining a valid driver's license and insurability.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or working towards a Bachelor's Degree in an agricultural-related field.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
• Strong written communication skills for reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
• Effective presentation skills and ability to respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the public.
• Mathematical skills including calculating discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume; basic algebra and geometry knowledge.
• Problem-solving skills to address practical issues with limited standardization.
• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and internet usage.
• Valid driver’s license and commercial insurability.
• Competencies including customer service, problem solving, leadership, professionalism, cost consciousness, dependability, timeliness, and safety awareness.

Responsibilities

• Support Regional Seed Advisors and the Seed Sales Manager in daily tasks.
• Engage with vendors and locations regarding seed ordering, delivery, and treatment.
• Collaborate with the agronomy sales team to assess patron needs, develop solutions, and implement programs for strategic growth.
• Collect and evaluate performance data of hybrids and varieties in Heartland Co-op seed plots.
• Scout patron fields with Heartland Co-op seed hybrids and varieties and develop solutions for any in-field issues.
• Assist in building strategic marketing plans for upcoming crop seasons.
• Maintain a valid driver’s license and commercial insurability at all times.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
