Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking a Security Systems Installer in Tennessee to install and configure complex integrated security systems, including access control, CCTV, digital recorders, and intercoms.

You will read blueprints, install wiring, test equipment, and train end users. The role requires strong TCP/IP networking skills, experience with IP cameras and card access, and the ability to work unsupervised and manage paperwork accurately.

Qualifications

• Significant background (3+ years) in Digital & Analogue Camera Systems.
• Significant background (3+ years) in Access Control Systems.
• Understanding of the function and design of Security and Fire Alarm Systems.
• Experience with IP addressable security devices (2+ years).
• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Must be computer literate and have advanced TCP/IP networking skills.
• Must be able to operate a company truck with an acceptable driving record.
• Is proficient with all aspects of and operation of card access, and CCTV systems.

Responsibilities

• Install complex integrated security systems including wiring, equipment, and programming of access control, CCTV, digital recorders, network recorders, and intercom systems.
• Capable of installing cables, field equipment & control equipment enclosures per codes and guidelines.
• Troubleshoot installation with electronic test equipment.
• Read blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specs, software, and manuals.
• Test and adjust equipment for proper operation.
• Perform system checks for proper operation.
• Plan, organize, and prioritize work with attention to detail.
• Communicate effectively, orally and in writing, and complete paperwork.
• Use hand and power tools to mount and secure equipment.
• Feed cables through holes, drill and terminate wiring, and conduct end-user training.
• Isolate trouble to a customer network when applicable.

What you will do

This position will be responsible for the installation of complex integrated security systems including the wiring, equipment, and programming of access control systems, CCTV, digital recorders, network recorders, and intercom systems for clients.

How you will do it

Capable of installing cables, field equipment & control equipment enclosures in customer locations according to the national electric code, company, and customer guidelines.

Experience using electronic test equipment to troubleshoot complicated problems during installation.

Reads and interprets blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, software/systems programs, schematics, and operational product manuals.

Readjust equipment, repair or replace inoperative equipment, and test for operation.

Performs system checks for proper operation.

Knowledge of computer programs including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases; CCTV and access control systems; media storage.

Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work paying close attention to details.

Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, while establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships.

Ability to analyze information.

Can work unsupervised to complete installation jobs and is self-motivated to complete jobs.

Completes and submits all necessary paperwork related to job assignments.

Capable of using hand and power tools to properly mount and secure equipment.

Feed cables through access holes, roof spaces, and cavity walls to reach fixture outlets; then position and terminate cables, wires, and strapping.

Drill holes for wiring in wall studs, joists, ceilings, and floors.

Conduct End-user training.

Ability to isolate trouble to a customer network, where applicable.

Pay Range

{$18.00 - $28.59} hourly rate determined by the CBA/rate sheet. Benefits are provided through a local labor union aligned with a collective bargaining agreement.
