Job summary

Target offers a Security Specialist role in a fast-paced retail environment. You will help protect guests, team members, and assets by applying intelligence-led security practices, crisis response, and de-escalation techniques.

You’ll document incidents accurately and support store leadership with safety and compliance. The position requires an 18+ age minimum, a high school diploma, and the ability to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Meet state/local licensure and/or other legal requirements.
• Welcoming and helpful attitude toward all guests and team members.
• Ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners and other tech.
• Effective communication skills.
• Work independently and with a team.
• Manage workload and prioritize tasks independently.
• Capable of remaining focused in a fast-paced environment and accomplish multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

• Create an easy, inspiring guest experience by greeting guests and assisting with needs.
• Help guests find products and resolve issues to ensure a smooth shopping experience.
• End every guest transaction with a sincere thank you.
• Actively support team efforts and assist peers while maintaining a positive attitude.
• Promote a physical security culture and maintain safe standards store-wide.
• Respond to and document security incidents in a timely manner.
• Use de-escalation tactics when responding to incidents across the store.
• Conduct merchandise theft recoveries and provide theft apprehension support as needed.
• Prevent theft by performing merchandise receipt checks and recognizing trends.
• Document incidents in the case management system per AP policy.
