Job summary

Target is hiring a Security Specialist to help protect guests, team members, and the store by coordinating with leadership and responders. The role involves active guest interaction, incident reporting, and applying de-escalation techniques to maintain a safe shopping environment.

Ideal candidates will be at least 18 with a high school diploma, able to operate scanners and security devices, and flexible to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed. Training is provided.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Meet any state or local licensure and/or other legal requirements related to the position.
• Welcoming and helpful attitude toward all guests and other team members.
• Ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners, and other technology equipment as directed.
• Effective communication skills.
• Work both independently and with a team.
• Manage workload and prioritize tasks independently.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests and help resolve issues to ensure a smooth shopping experience.
• Respond to security incidents and document them promptly in the case management system.
• Prevent theft and shortages by checking merchandise during receipt and reporting trends.
• Operate Target's video surveillance system and use de-escalation techniques when needed.
• Collaborate with team and adapt to busy shifts including nights and weekends.
