Job summary

Target is seeking a Security Specialist to help protect guests, team members, and assets in a fast-paced retail environment. The role emphasizes customer service, safety, and incident documentation while leveraging Target’s video surveillance tools and de-escalation techniques.

Expect flexible shifts, the ability to work nights and weekends, and comprehensive training. The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and compliance with state and local requirements.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age or older
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Meet any state or local licensure and/or other legal requirements for the position
• Welcoming and helpful attitude toward all guests and other team members
• Ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners and other technology equipment as directed
• Effective communication skills
• Work both independently and with a team
• Manage workload and prioritize tasks independently
• Capability to remain focused and composed in a fast-paced environment and accomplish multiple tasks within established timeframes

Responsibilities

• Create an easy, inspiring and friendly guest experience by greeting guests and assisting them
• Help guests find what they need and resolve issues for a smooth shopping experience
• End every guest transaction with a sincere thank you
• Support team efforts and assist peers while maintaining a positive, respectful attitude
• Promote a physical security culture and maintain safe standards store-wide
• Respond to and document security incidents in a timely manner
• Use de-escalation tactics and Target's video surveillance system
• Conduct merchandise theft recoveries and provide theft apprehension support
• Prevent theft by performing merchandise receipt checks and communicating trends
• Submit documentation in the case management system following AP policy and procedures
