Job summary

Table Mountain Casino Inc. is seeking a Security Supervisor to oversee officers, ensure patron and staff safety, and protect assets in a dynamic gaming environment.

The role requires leadership, incident reporting, and adherence to gaming regulations; you will conduct briefings, train staff, and coordinate with law enforcement as needed. Nights, weekends and holidays may be required in this on-site position.

Qualifications

  • Three (3) years of experience as a Security Officer.
  • Two (2) years in a supervisory or management position preferred.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug/alcohol screen and background check.
  • Knowledge of tribal, federal, and state gaming laws.
  • Ability to coordinate with law enforcement and respond to emergencies.

  • Performs routine inspections of premises and safety systems.
  • Assists patrons with vehicle lockouts and safety issues.
  • Communicates with security personnel via radios.

Job description

Position Summary:

Under general direction from the Security Shift Manager, oversees the security officers and ensures the safety and protection of casino patrons, employees, and assets in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures. Maintains confidentiality of all privileged information.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Oversees security team and improves staff effectiveness by counseling, training and recommending disciplinary action for employees; planning, delegating, monitoring, and appraising job tasks and results in a timely manner.
  • Ensures security reports and logs are accurate and completed in a timely manner.
  • Conducts and oversees security briefings and meetings.
  • Implements and participates in staff development and training programs.
  • Assists security investigators and staff during investigations of gaming violations and other related security issues.
  • Controls emergency situations, which may include verbal and physical disturbances, and, resetting alarms, evacuation and/or shutdown of building.
  • Patrols gaming floor, conducts checks for open machines, floor bank, drop doors and lot checks; identifies and reports suspicious activities to appropriate personnel.
  • Assists in training and development of newly hired staff.
  • Performs all entrance duties, verifies age of patrons, opens doors, checks suspicious packages, and identifies intoxicated patrons.
  • Verifies fills, jackpot winnings and credits for accuracy; transports money, chips, tokens and markers.
  • Controls access to restricted areas; checks for and reports all safety hazards.
  • Performs inspections on a routine, daily, and monthly basis to include inspecting signs, aisles, walkways, fire suppression systems and fire extinguishers.
  • Assists patrons with vehicle lockouts, lost and found and safety issues.
  • Communicates with other security personnel using two-way radios according to established codes and procedures.
  • Ensures employees adhere to all gaming policies and procedures; reports any violations to appropriate personnel.
  • Conducts initial investigations by interviewing and obtaining written statements from customers/employees; completes a thorough and accurate report in a timely manner.
  • Completes and verifies gaming paperwork, departmental logs, reports and parking violations.
  • Oversees the Lost and Found program by ensuring that all items found are bagged and tagged and accounted for through written documentation.
  • Confers with representatives of local government to ensure cooperation and coordination of Casino activities with law enforcement and firefighting agencies.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by conducting research, attending seminars, educational workshops, classes and conferences; reviewing professional publications; establishing networks; participating in professional societies; conferring with representatives of contracting agencies and related organizations.
  • Contributes to a team effort and accomplishes related results as required.
  • Performs other duties as required.
Direct Reports:

All Security personnel including Casino events held off-property.

Access to Sensitive Areas:

All areas of the Casino.

Signatory Authority:

Some Security and personnel related forms.

Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED is required unless waived by Human Resources Management. Three (3) years of experience as a Security Officer. Two (2) years of experience in a supervisory or management position preferred. Previous Casino and guest experience preferred. Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen, background investigation, obtain and maintain gaming license.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of tribal, federal, and state gaming, criminal, traffic, and civil code and laws.
  • Knowledge of security operations, principles and practices including investigation, patrol, communications, records, community/public relations, and crime prevention.
  • Knowledge of EMT practices and protocols.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other law enforcement/regulatory agencies, emergency responders, departmental staff, tribal officials, and the public.
  • Skill in analyzing problems, projecting consequences, identifying solutions, and implementing recommendations.
  • Ability to interpret applicable federal, state, county and local laws, regulations, and requirements.
  • Ability to instruct and evaluate all team members in CPR, First Aid and AED.
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with co-workers at all levels.
  • Ability to work independently and meet strict time lines.
  • Ability to be persuasive and tactful in controversial situations.
  • Ability to prepare accurate, complete and legible reports and present detailed, accurate and objective oral presentations and response to questions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain excellent working relationships with other individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds.
  • Ability to make intelligent and effective decisions in routine and emergency situations.
  • Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively both verbally and in writing.
Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hand to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this position, the employee will be exposed to cigarette smoke. The work environment is noisy and the employee will work indoors and outdoors. Work performed in areas with temperatures in excess of 115° and as cold as 15° (exposed to all weather conditions).
