Job description

Position Summary:

Under general direction from the Security Administrative Manager, ensures the safety and protection of casino patrons, employees, and assets in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures. Responds to calls for medical service for team members and guests. Maintains confidentiality of all privileged information.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Attends and participates in all security briefings and staff meetings.

  • Assess and treat emergency and non-emergency patients. Correctly perform clinical procedures within EMT scope and use sounds judgment regarding treatment and transport of patients.

  • Complete patient care reports for each response with complete and accurate documentation of patient care rendered. Complete patient release and cancellation forms when appropriate.

  • Maintain positive and cooperative working relationships with other health care professionals and pre-hospital care providers.

  • Work with all departments in the implementation of CPR, First Aid, Safety training and AED instruction. Maintain all records of such instruction and teach according to American Heart Association standards.

  • Perform proper documentation of medical inventory to keep within inventory compliance and budgetary restraints.

  • Patrols gaming floor, conducts checks for open machines, floor bank, drop doors and lot checks; identifies and reports suspicious activities to appropriate personnel.

  • Assists in training and development of newly hired staff.

  • Performs all entrances duties, verifies age of patrons, opens doors, checks suspicious packages, and identifies intoxicated patrons.

  • Verifies fills, jackpot winnings and credits for accuracy; transports money, chips, tokens and markers.

  • Controls access to restricted areas; checks for and reports all safety hazards.

  • Performs inspections on a routine, daily, and monthly basis to include inspecting signs, aisles, walkways, fire suppression systems and fire extinguishers.

  • Assists patrons with vehicle lockouts, lost and found and safety issues.



  • Ensures employees adhere to all gaming policies and procedures; reports any violations to appropriate personnel.

  • Controls emergency situations, which may include resetting alarms, evacuation and/or shutdown of building.

  • Conducts initial investigations by interviewing and obtaining written statements from customers/employees; completes a thorough and accurate report in a timely manner.

  • Completes and verifies gaming paperwork, departmental logs, reports and parking violations.

  • Communicates with other security personnel using two-way radios according to established codes and procedures.

  • Perform Lost and Found tasks by ensuring that all items found are bagged and tagged and accounted for through written documentation.

  • Confers with representatives of local government to ensure cooperation and coordination of Casino activities with law enforcement and firefighting agencies.

  • Contributes to a team effort and accomplishes related results as required.



  • Performs security officer duties as required.

  • Observe and report suspicious or unusual situations, undesirables, and minors while ensuring the safety of Guests and Team Members on property.

  • Perform CPR and oxygen administration when needed for any medical emergency and First Aid for any Team Member or Guest medical.

  • Responsible for writing reports and attaching all correlating supporting documents into the iTrak System.

  • Train Security Team Members on how to assist during Team Member and Guest medicals and medical emergencies.

  • Ensure medical supplies are properly stocked, request additional supplies when required, and ensure AED units are functioning correctly

  • Ensure excellent customer service, friendly and professional manner at all times.

  • Enforce Casino policies as they pertain to Team Members and Guests.

  • Maintain a professional appearance and polite demeanor at all times.

  • Respond to incidents on property when dispatched.

  • Communicate clearly in speech and writing.

  • Maintain a clean and neat work environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED is required unless waived by Human Resources Management. Current EMT-1 certification required. Previous experience as a Security Officer or other related field preferred. Must have basic computer skills. Previous Casino and guest experience preferred. Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen, background investigation, obtain and maintain gaming license.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


  • Knowledge of tribal, federal, and state gaming, criminal, traffic, and civil code and laws.

  • Knowledge of security operations, principles and practices including investigation, patrol, communications, records, community/public relations, and crime prevention.

  • Knowledge of EMT practices and protocols.

  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other law enforcement/regulatory agencies, emergency responders, departmental staff, tribal officials, and the public.

  • Skill in analyzing problems, projecting consequences, identifying solutions, and implementing recommendations.

  • Ability to interpret applicable federal, state, county and local laws, regulations, and requirements.

  • Ability to instruct and evaluate all team members in CPR, First Aid and AED.

  • Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with co-workers at all levels.

  • Ability to work independently and meet strict time lines.

  • Ability to be persuasive and tactful in controversial situations.

  • Ability to prepare accurate, complete and legible reports and present detailed, accurate and objective oral presentations and response to questions.

  • Ability to establish and maintain excellent working relationships with other individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds.

  • Ability to make intelligent and effective decisions in routine and emergency situations.

  • Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively both verbally and in writing.


Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hand to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee may need to physically restrain individual(s) during physical disturbances.


Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this position, the employee will be exposed to cigarette smoke. The work environment is noisy and the employee will work indoors and outdoors. Work performed in areas with temperatures in excess of 115° and as cold as 15° (exposed to all weather conditions).
