Job summary

Idaho National Laboratory is seeking a Security Safety Professional to join our Environment, Safety, Health & Quality (ESHQ) team. The position operates on a 4x10 schedule at the Central Facilities Area, with every Friday off, and involves applying firearms knowledge to security operations, safety program development, and hazard mitigation across Laboratory projects.

The ideal candidate will have a BS in a relevant technical field with experience (or a Master’s with fewer years), possess

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in a relevant technical field with 2 years' related experience or Master’s degree.
• Level 3 requires 5 years of related experience or Master’s with 2 years; in lieu of degree 11 years of firearms/SRT experience.
• Ability to obtain Security Police Officer III Instructor Certification.
• Ability to obtain Human Performance Improvement Practitioner Level Certification.
• Experience with firearms training, SWAT/SRT.
• US Citizenship required to obtain a DOE 'Q' clearance'.

Responsibilities

• Apply firearms and advanced weapon systems knowledge in security operations.
• Develop and implement health and safety programs meeting regulatory requirements and company standards.
• Conduct workplace health and safety assessments and recommend improvements.
• Provide safety support and peer review across Laboratory teams and external organizations.
• Investigate accidents and provide hazard mitigation guidance using the Integrated Safety Management System.
• Provide technical support to interpret and implement assigned programs and requirements.
• Evaluate organizational risks and prioritize goals for the management assessment program.
• Participate in hazard evaluation groups to identify and control hazards; review site plans.
• Contribute to routine safety metrics and assurance reports.
• May develop and deliver Laboratory-wide training programs.
