Job summary

Mall of America is seeking a dedicated security officer to ensure guest safety and enforce the Parental Escort Policy. You will patrol the mall, verify ages, respond to incidents, and assist in emergencies while delivering exceptional guest service.

Ideal candidates are at least 18, with CPR/First Aid training preferred and the ability to stay calm in stressful situations. This is a full-time, on-site role requiring flexible scheduling, including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Enforce MOA Parental Escort Policy and other MOA rules.
• Patrol common areas or stationed at entrances as assigned.
• Verify guest ages using government IDs or guardian presence.
• Request IDs from under-21s per training.
• Address violations and request removal when needed.
• Provide outstanding internal and external guest service.
• Use radio comms with Dispatch and Supervisors.
• Respond to incident calls as directed by dispatcher.
• May provide first aid or CPR in emergencies.
• Call police or EMS as necessary.
• Assist in emergency procedures and reporting.

Job description

PURPOSE

Ensure guests, tenants and team members at Mall of America have a positive experience by providing excellent service related to guest relations and safety and enforce the Parental Escort Policy (PEP).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Enforce the MOA Parental Escort Policy and other MOA rules.
• Patrol MOA common areas or remain stationed at Mall entrances, as assigned.
• Verify guests are at least 16 years of age using physical copies of government issued IDs or have a parent or guardian that is at least 21 years old.
• Request ID from guests who appear under 21 years of age, based on training and discretion.
• Address violations of MOA rules, including asking guests to leave Mall property when necessary.
• Consistently provide outstanding internal and external guest service.
• Utilize radio for clear and detailed communication with Dispatch, Supervisors, and other relevant staff.
• Respond to incident calls as directed by dispatcher or supervisor.
• May provide first aid or CPR in life threatening situations.
• Request police or EMS services as necessary.
• Assist in emergency procedures including perimeters and reporting suspicious items, vehicles, and individuals when necessary.
• Assist in reuniting juvenile guests with parents or guardians.
• Cross train with Traffic department and assist with traffic control as assigned.
• Work special events, bag checks, roof details, and crowd control details as assigned.
• Work a flexible schedule including weekends, evenings, holidays, and high-volume days.
• Additional other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Successful completion of in-house physical and skills training program.
• Prior CPR and First Aid training preferred and able to perform CPR on all body types.
• Excellent guest service skills.
• Excellent listening and written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be detail oriented and able to multi-task.
• Must be observant and safety minded.
• Able to remain calm in stressful situations utilizing rational thinking and decision making skills.

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this job, the officer will frequently be required to speak and listen to guests in order to understand their needs and communicate a solution. Officer must also possess a level of hearing that will continuously allow them to be aware of their surroundings and recognize when a guest or situation needs their attention. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Team members are required to be able to tolerate multiple sensory stimuli at once while performing their duties. These stimuli may include: loud auditory/noise, smells/olfactory, hot/cold temperatures. bright lights, colors, motion, and other visual and tactile stimuli.
