Job summary

Mall of America is seeking a dedicated security professional to ensure guest, tenant, and team member safety while enforcing the Parental Escort Policy (PEP). You will patrol, verify ages, handle rule violations, and respond to incidents with clear radio communication.

The role emphasizes outstanding guest service, calm decision making, and teamwork across departments. Flexible scheduling, including weekends and holidays, is required.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Successful completion of in-house physical and skills training program.
• Prior CPR and First Aid training preferred.
• Excellent guest service skills.
• Excellent listening and written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be detail oriented and able to multi-task.
• Must be observant and safety minded.
• Able to remain calm in stressful situations.

Responsibilities

• Enforce the MOA Parental Escort Policy and other MOA rules.
• Patrol MOA common areas or remain stationed at Mall entrances, as assigned.
• Verify guests are at least 16 years of age with IDs or a parent/guardian 21+.
• Request IDs from guests who appear under 21.
• Address violations of MOA rules and ask guests to leave when necessary.
• Provide outstanding internal and external guest service.
• Use radio communication with Dispatch, Supervisors, and staff.
• Respond to incident calls as directed by dispatcher or supervisor.
• May provide first aid or CPR in life threatening situations.
• Request police or EMS as necessary.
• Assist in emergency procedures and report suspicious items/individuals.
• Reunite juvenile guests with parents or guardians.
• Cross train with Traffic department for traffic control.
• Work events, bag checks, roof details, and crowd control as assigned.
• Maintain a flexible schedule including weekends, evenings, holidays, and high-volume days.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Job description

PURPOSE:

Ensure guests, tenants and team members at Mall of America have a positive experience by providing excellent service related to guest relations and safety and enforce the Parental Escort Policy (PEP).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Enforce the MOA Parental Escort Policy and other MOA rules.
• Patrol MOA common areas or remain stationed at Mall entrances, as assigned.
• Verify guests are at least 16 years of age using physical copies of government issued IDs or have a parent or guardian that is at least 21 years old.
• Request ID from guests who appear under 21 years of age, based on training and discretion.
• Address violations of MOA rules, including asking guests to leave Mall property when necessary.
• Consistently provide outstanding internal and external guest service.
• Utilize radio for clear and detailed communication with Dispatch, Supervisors, and other relevant staff.
• Respond to incident calls as directed by dispatcher or supervisor.
• May provide first aid or CPR in life threatening situations.
• Request police or EMS services as necessary.
• Assist in emergency procedures including perimeters and reporting suspicious items, vehicles, and individuals when necessary.
• Assist in reuniting juvenile guests with parents or guardians.
• Cross train with Traffic department and assist with traffic control as assigned.
• Work special events, bag checks, roof details, and crowd control details as assigned.
• Work a flexible schedule including weekends, evenings, holidays, and high-volume days.
• Additional other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Successful completion of in-house physical and skills training program.
• Prior CPR and First Aid training preferred and able to perform CPR on all body types.
• Excellent guest service skills.
• Excellent listening and written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be detail oriented and able to multi-task.

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job, the officer will frequently be required to speak and listen to guests in order to understand their needs and communicate a solution. Officer must also possess a level of hearing that will continuously allow them to be aware of their surroundings and recognize when a guest or situation needs their attention. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Team members are required to be able to tolerate multiple sensory stimuli at once while performing their duties. These stimuli may include: loud auditory/noise, smells/olfactory, hot/cold temperatures. bright lights, colors, motion, and other visual and tactile stimuli.
