Job description

This is a contingent opportunity. The Security Operations Specialist conducts assessments of installations and facilities’ ability to protect personnel, critical assets, and missions from physical attacks, and to deter, detect, defend, and respond to such attacks. Duties include:

  1. Review and assess the overall physical security system and its effectiveness in detecting, delaying, and responding to threats.
  2. Assess the protection of critical assets based on the criticality of missions.
  3. Oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of Information Systems (IS) security programs.
  4. Conduct physical security assessments focusing on:
    1. Protection Planning and Execution: Evaluating protection planning, resources, training, and exercises for incident response and recovery.
    2. Access / Circulation Control: Ensuring measures are sufficient to screen unauthorized personnel and vehicles.
    3. Detection / Assessment: Verifying site capabilities to detect unauthorized access.
    4. Reaction / Response: Evaluating response force planning, capabilities, equipment, staffing, and training.

Experience:

  • 8–10 years of related experience.
  • Understanding of Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, and Joint DoD security directives.
  • Working knowledge of DoDI 3020.45 (Change 1).
  • Experience in conducting vulnerability assessments for mission-critical infrastructure including networks, data centers, telecommunications, airfields, intrusion detection, nuclear security, forward operating bases, and the defense industrial base.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in security/law enforcement-related field preferred; operational experience may substitute.

Other Requirements:

  • Thorough understanding of DoD Mission Assurance Programs and requirements.
  • Prior experience supporting DoD Nuclear Command, Control & Communications (NC3) and Defense Critical Infrastructure (DCI) is preferred.
  • 8–10 years of military or civilian experience in security management, operations, antiterrorism, and physical security system analysis.
  • Experience with CBRNE detection systems and assessments.
  • Experience conducting vulnerability-based assessments.

Security Clearance:

  • Current Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.

Additional Requirements:

  • Willingness to deploy worldwide, including high-threat permissive areas.
  • Submit to immunizations required for worldwide travel.
