Job summary

King County's Facilities Management Division seeks a Security Supervisor to lead the Security Management Section across multiple county facilities. The role requires strong leadership, integrity, and the ability to interact with senior management in a visible public environment.

The successful candidate will oversee security operations, training, incident reporting, and emergency response while coordinating with intergovernmental agencies and law enforcement as needed.

Qualifications

• An in-depth background in public safety and building security including extensive experience managing a large security guard force operation risk.
• The ability to perform in the areas of responsibility listed above.
• Experience in supervision of a large work force.
• Ability to communicate and synthesize complex ideas with diverse audiences.
• Customer-focused approach building relationships with intergovernmental agencies and separately elected branches of government.
• Ability to persevere and adapt in a multi-faceted, sometimes ambiguous environment.
• Model best practices in managing a large group of multi-level staff; supervise, coach, empower, and ensure accountability.

Responsibilities

• Supervise assigned staff: staff selection, training, disciplinary actions, and performance documentation.
• Oversee scheduling, absences, overtime, and payroll documentation; analyze patterns.
• Provide security staff training on procedures, safety, emergency response, and incidents; maintain records and annual training report.
• Act as on-call, 24/7 Duty Manager for building/facilities issues.
• Review processes and coordinate changes to improve service delivery.
• Maintain incident, activity, and statistical reports.
• Respond to reports of possible crimes or incidents and ensure appropriate action.
• Coordinate emergency responses to disasters or civil disturbances as directed.
• Liaise with peer groups; coordinate joint training and participate in community security activities.
• May act as Security Manager and perform duties of Security Sergeant/Officer when required.
