Job summary

King County is seeking a Security Supervisor to lead the Security Management Section within the Facilities Management Division. You will supervise a team responsible for securing county buildings, facilities, and properties across multiple locations, and you will interact with staff and senior management in a visible public environment.

The role emphasizes strong leadership, integrity, and the ability to coordinate training, incident response, and emergency planning.

Qualifications

• In-depth background in Public Safety and Building Security.
• Experience supervising a large work force.
• Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences.
• Customer-focused and able to build intergovernmental relationships.
• Ability to work in a multi-faceted and sometimes ambiguous environment.
• Experience developing staff training and procedural accountability.
• Possess valid Washington State driver’s license or the ability to obtain transportation to remote locations.

Responsibilities

• Supervise assigned staff, train staff, coach, mentor and motivate performance; evaluate work outcomes.
• Oversee scheduling, approve absences, authorize overtime, and analyze workloads.
• Provide security staff training on procedures, safety, emergency response and incidents; maintain training records and annual reports.
• Act as on-call, 24/7 Duty Manager for building and facility issues.
• Review processes and implement improvements to increase service effectiveness.
• Maintain records and incident/activity reports; respond to possible crimes or critical incidents.
• Coordinate emergency responses to disasters or disturbances as directed by Security Manager.
• Liaise with peer groups and coordinate joint training with other teams.
