The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis is seeking a Security Operations Intern for Spring 2027. This on-site internship will support the Director of Security Operations with day-to-day operations and project work aimed at safety and security in a high-traffic public environment.

You will help update policies, assist with SOP reviews, and contribute to event security and school group procedures while gaining hands-on experience in security operations and emergency preparedness.

Qualifications

  • Sophomore, junior, or senior at the college level, majoring in Security, Law Enforcement, Homeland Security/Public Safety (preferred).
  • Experience working with children preferred, but not required.
  • Basic computer and software skills.
  • ADA REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to walk, stand, and move throughout the Museum campus for extended periods of time, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Description

OVERVIEW:

The Security Operations Intern will assist the Director of Security Operations with day-to-day security operations and project-based work that supports the safety and security of The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis. This intern will contribute to operational improvements, documentation updates, and event and school group procedures while gaining exposure to security operations in a large, public-facing organization.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Update Policies and Procedures within the Security Department

Fire Extinguisher audit and relocation

Assist with reviewing and updating Security Standard Operating Procedures.

Support the Safety Warden Program.

Assist with school group arrival and departure procedures.

Support security operations related to Museum events as needed.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Sophomore, junior, or senior at the college level, majoring in Security, Law Enforcement, Homeland Security/Public Safety (preferred)

Experience working with children preferred, but not required.

Basic computer and software skills.

Previous security-related experience not required.
