Job summary

Empower is seeking a Director of Security Operations & Engineering to lead security operations and engineering teams protecting our information systems. You will guide security policies, balance risk with business needs, and ensure effective monitoring, incident response, and controls across SIEM, IDS/IPS, firewalls, and WAF platforms.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in information security operations, engineering, or related disciplines.
• 6 to 8 years of related management experience, aligned with seniority level.
• Experience leading multiple security teams or managers.
• Experience with security operations, monitoring, incident response, and system design.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day management and performance of multiple security ops and engineering teams.
• Provide input into departmental goals, policies, and resource allocations.
• Oversee monitoring, event analysis, incident response, and investigation processes.
• Direct analysis of security logs to identify unauthorized access and threats.
• Oversee security devices and controls including SIEM, IDS/IPS, firewalls, and WAFs.
• Incorporate external threat intel and vulnerability data into monitoring and response.
• Develop operational metrics and report risks to senior leadership.
• Develop and enforce standard operating procedures and security hardening standards.
• Identify risks and approve security reviews for changes.
