Job summary

Allied Universal is seeking a full-time security officer in New York to protect facilities and respond to incidents. You will perform site-specific procedures, patrols, and access control tasks while delivering customer service to personnel and visitors.

Requirements include a NYS Security Guard License, at least 1 year of security experience, and the ability to use a computer or tablet. 18+ for unarmed roles (21+ for armed), with background checks and drug testing as applicable.

Qualifications

• New York State Security Guard License is required.
• At least 1 year of security-related experience.
• Comfort using a computer or tablet is preferred.
• Access control and badge experience is preferred.
• Customer service experience is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Background investigation will be conducted as a condition of employment.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applicants with criminal histories as permitted by law.
• A drug screen will be required as permitted by law.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to utility personnel, contractors, and visitors by carrying out site-specific security procedures and emergency response activities.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of facilities, access points, parking areas, building perimeters, and other locations to deter unauthorized activity.
• Monitor access to restricted areas, verify authorized entry, and report access-control concerns or suspicious activity.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations calmly and document accordingly.
• Maintain accurate daily activity reports, incident reports, and patrol logs as required.

What You'll Do

• Provide customer service to utility personnel, contractors, and visitors by carrying out site‑specific security‑related procedures, policies, and emergency response activities as appropriate.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of utility facilities, access points, parking areas, building perimeters, and other designated locations to help deter unauthorized activity and identify unusual conditions.
• Monitor access to restricted areas, verify authorized entry, and report access-control concerns or suspicious activity according to site procedures.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, problem‑solving manner; notify appropriate personnel and complete required documentation.
• Maintain accurate daily activity reports, incident reports, and patrol logs in accordance with Allied Universal and site‑specific requirements.

Minimum Requirements

• Possess a New York State Security Guard License.
• Have at least 1 year of security‑related experience.
• Comfort using a computer or tablet is preferred.
• Access control and badge experience is preferred.
• Customer service experience is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
