Job summary

Allied Universal is seeking a Part-Time Security Officer (Unarmed) for North Smithfield, RI. You will provide excellent customer service, perform routine patrols in and around the retail location, and help maintain a safe environment for customers and associates.

This role features a part-time schedule with a flexible shift pattern and opportunities to explore additional roles through the Claim a Shift platform.

Qualifications

• Be at least 18 years old for unarmed roles; 21+ for armed roles.
• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Background check will be conducted in accordance with laws.
• Drug screen required where permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements may apply depending on state and role.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to shoppers, visitors, and staff by following security procedures.
• Conduct regular patrols of the retail location and perimeter to deter incidents.
• Monitor for unusual activity and report observations to store leadership.
• Respond calmly to incidents using post orders and escalation procedures.
• Assist with access control and incident documentation as needed.

As an Unarmed Patrol Officer in a retail location, you will conduct routine patrols, maintain a visible presence to help deter security-related incidents, and support a welcoming environment for customers and associates. You will provide exceptional customer service, communicate clearly, and respond professionally to concerns. Position Type: Part Time

Pay Rate: $19.50 / Hour

Job Schedule:

• Sat: 03:00 PM - 11:30 PM
• Sun: 03:00 PM - 11:30 PM

What You'll Do:

• Provide customer service to shoppers, visitors, and/or store associates by carrying out security-related procedures, location‑specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
• Conduct regular and random foot and/or vehicle patrols throughout the retail location, including sales areas, entrances, exits, parking areas, and perimeter locations.
• Monitor for unusual activity, policy violations, and potential hazards, and report observations to appropriate store contacts and/or Allied Universal leadership.
• Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem‑solving manner, following established post orders and escalation procedures.
• Assist with access control, customer assistance, and documentation of incidents, observations, and patrol activity as required.

Minimum Requirements:

• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
