Job summary

Allied Universal is hiring a Part Time Security Officer for a residential shelter in Jamaica, NY. You will provide customer service, monitor access, and patrol the facility to deter incidents and ensure safety for residents and staff.

Responsibilities include responding to incidents, following site procedures, and maintaining calm, professional communication with residents and visitors. The position emphasizes teamwork and a people-first culture within a dynamic shelter environment.

Qualifications

• Be at least 18 years old for unarmed roles; 21+ years for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

• Respond to incidents, disturbances, and/or critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner, and report details according to site protocols.
• Conduct regular and random patrols throughout the property, common areas, entrances, exits, and perimeter to deter unwanted activity and observe unusual conditions.
• Monitor access to the location by checking credentials, logging visitors, and communicating with residents, staff, and first responders as needed.
• Support a respectful environment within the shelter location by addressing policy concerns and sharing information with site leadership and management.

Pay Rate: $18.87 / Hour
Job Schedule:

• Friday: 03:30 PM - 11:30 PM
• Saturday: 03:30 PM - 11:30 PM
• Sunday: 03:30 PM - 11:30 PM

What You’ll Do
