Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, visitors, and contractors by following security procedures and campus policies.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, and emergencies in a calm, reports-driven manner per campus protocols.
• Conduct regular unarmed patrols of buildings, parking areas, walkways, and perimeters to deter unauthorized activity.
• Monitor access points, observe campus activity, and report suspicious conditions to the appropriate personnel.
• Prepare clear activity and incident reports and maintain professional communication with campus representatives and Allied Universal leadership.

Job Description

As a Security Officer Patrol Documentation in Reading, PA, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. As an Unarmed Security Officer at a government education location, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, maintain a visible presence to help deter security-related incidents, and support a welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. You will communicate professionally, respond to routine concerns, and document activities using technology. Position Type: Full Time

Pay Rate: $17.55 / Hour

• Security Experience (C112):Candidates must have a minimum of 6 months of relevant security experience. This experience should demonstrate the ability to handle security-related tasks and responsibilities effectively.

• Comfortable Using Computer or Tablet (B204):Candidates must be proficient in using computers or tablets. This includes familiarity with basic software applications, email communication, and the ability to navigate digital platforms relevant to the job.

• Customer Service Experience (B219):Candidates must possess prior customer service experience. This experience should reflect the ability to interact positively with customers, resolve issues, and provide assistance in a professional manner.

What You’ll Do:

• Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, visitors, and/or contractors by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, following established campus protocols and reporting requirements.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of academic buildings, administrative areas, parking areas, walkways, and the surrounding perimeter to help to deter unauthorized activity.
• Monitor access points and observe campus activity, reporting suspicious conditions, maintenance concerns, and policy violations to appropriate personnel.
• Prepare clear, accurate activity and incident reports and maintain professional communication with campus representatives and Allied Universal leadership.

Minimum Requirements:

• Possess at least 6 months of security-related experience.
• Customer service experience is preferred.
• Be comfortable using a computer or tablet, preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
