Job summary

Allied Universal in Reading, PA is hiring a Part-Time Security Officer for a campus location. You will provide front-line customer service, patrol assigned areas, monitor access points, and respond to incidents to maintain a safe environment.

Position type is Part Time with a pay rate of $17.55 per hour. Requires at least 6 months of security experience and a high school diploma or equivalent; 18+ for unarmed roles. Training and growth opportunities are available.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, visitors, and/or community members according to site procedures.

• Perform regular unarmed patrols of campus buildings, parking areas and walkways to deter unauthorized activity.
• Monitor access points, report suspicious activity and document issues per procedures.
• Prepare incident reports and activity logs accurately and on time.

Position Type: Part Time

Pay Rate: $17.55 / Hour

• Security Experience (C112): Candidates must have a minimum of 6 months of relevant security experience. This experience should demonstrate the ability to handle security-related tasks and responsibilities effectively.

• Comfortable Using Computer or Tablet (B204): Candidates must be proficient in using computers or tablets. This includes familiarity with basic software applications, email communication, and the ability to navigate digital platforms efficiently.

• Customer Service Experience (B219): Candidates should possess prior customer service experience. This experience should reflect the ability to interact positively with customers, resolve issues, and provide assistance in a professional manner.

What You’ll Do:

• Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, visitors, and/or community members by carrying out site-specific procedures, policies, and emergency response activities at an educational campus location.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, medical situations, and other critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, following established notification and reporting procedures.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of campus buildings, parking areas, walkways, and perimeter areas to help to deter unauthorized activity and identify security-related concerns.
• Monitor access points and observe campus activity, reporting suspicious behavior, hazards, maintenance concerns, and policy violations to appropriate personnel.
• Prepare clear and accurate incident reports, daily activity logs, and other required documentation in accordance with Allied Universal and site procedures.

Minimum Requirements:

• Have at least 6 months of security-related experience.
• Customer service experience is preferred.
• Comfort using a computer or tablet is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
