Job summary

Allied Universal is seeking a part-time unarmed Security Officer in Ashburn, VA to protect students, staff, and visitors while delivering exceptional customer service and maintaining a visible, professional presence.

You will conduct routine patrols of buildings, grounds, and entrances, monitor access points, respond to alarms and incidents, and support safe school operations during arrivals, dismissals, and events.

Qualifications

• CPR certification is preferred.
• Comfort using a computer or tablet is preferred.
• Customer service experience is preferred.
• A guard card or license is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years old for unarmed roles; 21+ for armed roles.
• Background investigation will be conducted as per laws.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to students, staff, visitors, and school personnel while following site procedures.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of buildings, grounds, and entrances to deter unauthorized activity.
• Monitor access points and visitor activity, report suspicious behavior, and direct individuals to offices.
• Respond to incidents and alarms in a calm, professional manner and document activities as required.
• Maintain a professional presence during arrivals, dismissals, events, and other activities.

What You'll Do:

• Provide customer service to students, staff, visitors, and school personnel while carrying out site-specific procedures, policies, and emergency response activities as appropriate.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of school buildings, grounds, parking areas, and perimeter locations to help deter unauthorized activity and identify security-related concerns.
• Monitor access points and visitor activity, report suspicious behavior or policy violations, and assist with directing individuals to appropriate school offices or locations.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner; notify appropriate personnel and document activities as required.
• Maintain a professional presence during school operations, arrival and dismissal periods, events, and other assigned activities while supporting a respectful learning environment.

Minimum Requirements:

• CPR certification is preferred.
• Comfort using a computer or tablet is preferred.
• Customer service experience is preferred.
• A guard card or license is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
