Job summary

Allied Universal in Washington, DC is seeking a Part Time Front Desk Security Professional to staff the reception, manage visitor access, and uphold security procedures at an education and commercial real estate site.

You will provide customer service, monitor activity, and respond to incidents in alignment with site policies. A background in security with high school education is expected; CPR and licensing are preferred.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of law enforcement, military police, and/or corrections experience.
• CPR certification preferred.
• Guard card or license preferred.
• Experience with handcuffs, pepper spray, and baton preferred.
• Minimum age 18 for unarmed roles; 21+ for armed roles.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to tenants, visitors, employees, and education community members by carrying out security-related procedures and emergency response activities.
• Staff the front desk and greet visitors, verify access authorization, and direct guests per procedures.
• Monitor lobby activity, access points, visitor logs, and security systems; report unusual activity.
• Respond to incidents and critical situations calmly following escalation and emergency protocols.
• Support a welcoming, professional environment while deterring unauthorized access.

What You’ll Do

• Provide customer service to tenants, visitors, employees, and education community members by carrying out security‑related procedures, site‑specific policies, and, when appropriate, emergency response activities.
• Staff the front desk and serve as a professional point of contact, greeting visitors, verifying access authorization, and directing guests in accordance with building and organizational procedures.
• Monitor lobby activity, access points, visitor logs, and security‑related systems, reporting unusual activity or concerns to appropriate personnel.
• Respond to incidents, visitor concerns, and critical situations in a calm, problem‑solving manner, following established escalation and emergency response protocols.
• Support a welcoming, professional environment within a commercial office and education‑focused location while helping to deter unauthorized access.

Minimum Requirements

• Must have at least 2 years of law enforcement, military police, and/or corrections experience.
• CPR certification is preferred.
• A guard card or license is preferred.
• Experience with handcuffs, pepper spray, and baton is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
