Allied Universal is seeking a Security Officer (Part Time Patrol Driver) in Chicago, IL. You will perform unarmed patrols, deter security incidents, assist with access control, and provide strong customer service to students, staff and visitors on campus.

The role requires a valid driver’s license, a high school diploma or equivalent, and the ability to pass background checks and a drug screen. This is a part-time position with a schedule that includes evening shifts.

Qualifications

• A valid driver’s license is required.
• Be at least 18 for unarmed roles; 21+ for armed roles.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Background check will be conducted in accordance with federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applicants with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• A drug screen is required where permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state/local laws and regulations.
• A valid driver’s license is required for driving positions only.

• Monitor access points and observe activity to support visitor and access-control procedures.
• Document patrols, incidents, and observations and communicate relevant information to Allied Universal leadership and site contacts.

What You'll Do:

• Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, visitors, and vendors while carrying out site‑specific security‑related procedures, policies, and emergency response activities.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem‑solving manner, following established reporting and notification procedures.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of campus buildings, galleries, classrooms, common areas, entrances, and perimeter areas to help identify and report unusual activity, hazards, and access concerns.
• Monitor access points and observe activity throughout the location, providing directions and assistance while supporting established visitor and access‑control procedures.
• Document patrols, incidents, and observations accurately and communicate relevant information to Allied Universal leadership and site contacts.

Minimum Requirements:

• A valid driver’s license is required in accordance with Allied Universal driver policy requirements.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
