Job summary

CHI Health Creighton University Medical Center - Bergan Mercy in Omaha seeks a Lead Security Officer to head a security team across campuses and clinics, protecting people, property, and equipment from hazards and unauthorized access.

You will oversee security operations, patrol buildings, investigate incidents, control access, monitor detection systems, de-escalate threats, and document actions meticulously; strong leadership and judgment are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Six months experience as security officer in a hospital or healthcare setting (upon hire).
• Prior law enforcement or military service experience (optional).
• Basic Life Support (CPR) within 90 days of appointment.

• Provides leadership for Security Services.
• Ensures delivery of quality services and regulatory compliance; manages operations efficiently.
• Assist with oversight of campus security and parking enforcement.
• Plans, organizes and directs work assignments; assists with training of security staff.

As our Lead Security Officer, you will lead a team in performing a full range of security activities, diligently patrolling campuses and clinics to protect persons, property, and equipment from volatile individuals, unauthorized access, or hazards.

As our Lead Security Officer, you will lead a team in performing a full range of security activities, diligently patrolling campuses and clinics to protect persons, property, and equipment from volatile individuals, unauthorized access, or hazards.

Every day you will oversee security operations, patrol assigned buildings (foot/vehicle), identify violations, investigate incidents, respond to alarms/emergency codes, control hospital access, monitor detection systems, support helistop operations, and de-escalate or physically restrain individuals when necessary, meticulously documenting all actions and observations.

To be successful in this role, you will possess strong leadership abilities, exceptional vigilance, customer service skills, physical capacity for emergency response, and the ability to exercise sound judgment in interpreting and applying security guidelines, all while upholding a safe and secure environment.

• Provides leadership for Security Services

Job Requirements

Preferred

• One year experience as a security officer:(International Association of Healthcare Security Services (IAHSS) Basic & Advanced courses within 90 days of position appointment.) and

Required

• High School Graduate or equivalent; and Six (6) months experience as security officer in a hospital or healthcare setting, , upon hire or
• Prior law enforcement or military service experience; or
• Driver's License: NE, upon hire and
• Basic Life Support - CPR, within 90 Days

Pay Range

$19.44 - $27.45 /hour
