Job summary

CHI Health Mercy Council Bluffs seeks a Security Officer to maintain the highest level of safety by patrolling assigned areas and monitoring surveillance and emergency systems. You will provide timely responses to incidents, dispatch appropriate personnel, and write clear incident reports in alignment with HIPAA and hospital codes.

Responsibilities include patrolling facilities, monitoring alarms, and documenting activities.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Six months healthcare security experience or law enforcement/military service or one year security officer experience.
• Driver's License IA on hire.
• Basic Life Support (CPR) within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Patrol facility and grounds by foot or vehicle, monitor alarms, and dispatch officers as needed.
• Respond to calls for assistance, including violent incidents, emergencies, or access requests.
• Log activities and ensure incident reports are clear, concise, and timely.
• Recognize and follow hospital emergency procedures and codes.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Security Officer, you will maintain the highest level of safety and security by patrolling assigned areas, diligently deterring, detecting, and investigating suspicious activity or crime. Every day you will effectively monitor electronic surveillance equipment and hospital emergency systems, dispatch appropriate personnel via radio, and actively patrol to protect individuals and property, all while embodying our core values and supporting strategic quality improvement. To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate exceptional vigilance, strong observational skills, proficiency in electronic surveillance and dispatch systems, and a commitment to protecting our community while upholding our organizational values and contributing to a secure environment.

• Protecting staff, patients, and visitors by responding to calls for assistance in a timely and prudent manner. Calls may include incidents such as violent or unruly patients, visitors, crimes committed or in progress, or to emergency codes, and requests for opening doors.
• Patrol the facility and grounds by foot or vehicle; monitor security alarms and dispatch officers promptly to location(s) where needed; and report unsafe acts or conditions.
• Knowledge of emergency procedures, equipment, and supplies, including of radios and hospital codes
• Reports HIPAA breaches if witnessed; investigate security breaches, conducts investigations, and writes incident reports.
• Ensures that l all activities are logged. That incident reports are accurately completed that they are clear, concise, legible, and submitted in a timely manner.
• Use appropriate emergency and radio codes in dispatching security officers while knowing hospital campus to ensure that dispatches are to write location.

Job Requirements

Required

• High School Graduate or equivalent, upon hire and
• Six (6) months experience as security officer in a healthcare setting or
• Law enforcement or military service or
• One (1) year experience as a security officer
