Job summary

CHI Health Creighton University Medical Center - Bergan Mercy in Omaha, NE seeks a Security Officer to patrol, deter and investigate suspicious activity, ensuring safety for staff, patients and visitors.

You will monitor electronic systems, dispatch responders, and uphold hospital codes while aligning with the organization’s mission and values.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• ≤6 months healthcare security experience preferred; upon hire.
• Driver's license for Nebraska upon hire.
• Basic Life Support (CPR) within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Patrol assigned areas and respond to calls for assistance.
• Monitor surveillance and emergency systems; dispatch officers by radio.
• Investigate security incidents and prepare incident reports.
• Log activities accurately and follow hospital security procedures.
• Maintain uniform, badge visibility, and adherence to codes.

*Job Summary and Responsibilities*

As our Security Officer, you will maintain the highest level of safety and security by patrolling assigned areas, diligently deterring, eliminating, and investigating suspicious activity or crime.

Every day you will effectively monitor electronic surveillance equipment and hospital emergency systems, dispatch appropriate personnel via radio, and actively patrol to protect individuals and property, all while embodying our core values and supporting strategic quality improvement.

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate exceptional vigilance, high observational skills, professionalism, proficiency in electronic surveillance and dispatch systems, and a commitment to protecting our community while upholding our organizational values and contributing to a secure environment.

• Protecting staff, patients, and visitors by responding to calls for assistance in a timely and pragmatic manner. Calls may include incidents such as violent or unruly patients, visitors, crimes committed or in progress, or to emergency codes, and requests for opening doors.
• Patrol the facility and grounds by foot or vehicle; monitor security alarms and dispatch officers promptly to location(s) where needed; and report unsafe acts or conditions.
• Knowledge of emergency procedures, equipment, and supplies, including of radios and hospital codes. Reports HIPAA breaches if witnessed; investigate security breaches, conduct investigations, and writes incident reports.
• Ensures that l all activities are logged. That incident reports are accurately completed that they are clear, concise, legible, and submitted in a timely manner.
• Use appropriate emergency and radio codes in dispatching security officers while knowing hospital campus to ensure that the dispatches are to write location.
• Keeping the orgnization’s mission, vision and values at the forefront of all decision making and actions. Demonstrates breadth and/or depth of professional/technical skills and capabilities to the position. Interacting with others in a way that provides confidence in. one’s intentions and those of the organization. Adheres to uniform dress code requirements and employee ID badge is visible at all times. while on duty.
