Job summary

CommonSpirit Health is seeking a Lead Security Officer to supervise a security team across our CHI Health Creighton University Medical Center – Bergan Mercy campus in Omaha. You will patrol facilities, respond to alarms, control access, and de-escalate situations while documenting all actions.

You will oversee daily security operations, train staff, ensure regulatory compliance, and coordinate with hospital leadership to maintain a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent, and six months of security officer experience in a hospital or healthcare setting.
• Driver’s license from NE required on hire.
• Basic Life Support (CPR) certification within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provides leadership for Security Services.
• Ensures delivery of quality services; regulatory compliance, and manages operations efficiently.
• Assist with oversight of the campus security and parking enforcement.
• Plans, organizes and directs work assignments. Assists with training of security staff.
• Ensures that all Security Officers assigned to the shift meet program standards, including uniform and grooming standards.
• Assists with the implementation and maintenance of security procedures to ensure compliance with applicable codes and regulations.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Lead Security Officer, you will lead a team in performing a full range of security activities, diligently patrolling campuses and clinics to protect persons, property, and equipment from volatile individuals, unauthorized access, or hazards.

Every day you will oversee security operations, patrol assigned buildings (foot/vehicle), identify violations, investigate incidents, respond to alarms/emergency codes, control hospital access, monitor detection systems, support helistop operations, and de-escalate or physically restrain individuals when necessary, meticulously documenting all actions and observations.

To be successful in this role, you will possess strong leadership abilities, exceptional vigilance, customer service skills, physical capacity for emergency response, and the ability to exercise sound judgment in interpreting and applying security guidelines, all while upholding a safe and secure environment.

Job Requirements*Preferred

• One year experience as a security officer:(International Association of Healthcare Security Services (IAHSS) Basic & Advanced courses within 90 days of position appointment.) and

Required

• High School Graduate or equivalent; and Six (6) months experience as security officer in a hospital or healthcare setting, , upon hire or
• Prior law enforcement or military service experience; or
• Driver’s License: NE, upon hire and
• Basic Life Support – CPR, within 90 Days

Pay Range

$19.44 – $27.45 /hour
