Job summary

Hy-Vee Cherokee Security Officer I is responsible for safeguarding employees, guests, and assets within Hy-Vee’s supply chain facilities. The role requires vigilance, integrity, and adherence to policies while maintaining professional interactions across shifts.

Key duties include managing access points, monitoring alarms and CCTV, and leading responses to security and medical incidents. A high school diploma and background check are required, with CPR/AED and field training provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Militar y, law enforcement, or security-related work experience preferred.
• Must pass a criminal background check annually.
• CPR and AED certification.
• First Aid, OC Spray, Use of Force and De-escalation training.
• Complete Field Training Program.
• Valid driver’s license with no restrictions.

Responsibilities

• Effectively and efficiently manages security operations posts at entrances.
• Maintain safe and orderly ingress and egress of facilities for employees and guests.
• Monitors and responds to electronic security system activations, fire detection equipment, and emergency distress calls.
• Conduct routine equipment inspections and report findings.
• Monitor CCTV and respond to issues to keep facilities safe.
• Lead responses to security, medical, weather, and other incidents.
• Meet competency in emergency medical response protocols.
• Prepare detailed incident, activity, and duty logs and reports.
• Participate in scheduled security meetings and ongoing training.
