Job summary

Hy-Vee, Inc. is seeking a Lomar Security Officer to safeguard employees, guests, and assets across our supply chain facilities in Iowa.

You will manage security posts at entrances, control access, monitor CCTV, and coordinate responses to security alarms and emergencies. This non-exempt, full-time role requires a high school diploma, ability to pass background checks annually, and completion of CPR/AED, First Aid, and use-of-force training.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must pass annual background check.
  • CPR/AED certification training required; First Aid, OC spray, use of force training.
  • Complete Field Training Program.

Responsibilities

  • Manage security posts at employee, visitor, and receiving entrances.
  • Monitor CCTV and security systems; respond to incidents and alarms.
  • Prepare incident reports and maintain shift/duty logs.
  • Lead security, medical, weather-related, and other emergency responses.

Supply Chain Facility Security Officers remain vigilant, act with integrity, uphold company policies and procedures, and conduct all interactions respectfully and tactfully.Reporting RelationsReports to: Assistant Director, Supply Chain Security; Manager, Supply Chain Security – Pharmacy and Specialty Supervisor, Supply Chain SecurityPositions that report to you: NonePrimary Duties and ResponsibilitiesEffectively and efficiently manages security operations posts present at employee, executive, visitor, and receiving entrances.Maintain safe and orderly ingress and egress of the supply chain buildings, ensuring that only authorized employees and approved guests are granted access to the facilities.Monitors and responds to all activations of the electronic security system, fire detection equipment, and emergency distress calls at supply chain facilities.Conduct routine daily, weekly, monthly, and/or annual safety and security equipment inspections and certifications and report such inspections accordingly.Vigilantly monitors CCTV security camera systems to maintain awareness of internal and external property boundaries and respond to issues as they arise, keeping our facilities safe and problem-free.Leads the response to security, medical, weather-related, and other critical incidents.Meets and maintains a level of competency in emergency medical response protocols.Prepares, proofreads, and submits detailed activity, incident, and situation reports and maintains clear, concise shift and duty logs.Participates in scheduled Supply Chain Facility Security meetings, training, and continuing education opportunities.Secondary Duties and ResponsibilitiesAssists with the transfer of mail, money, or other sensitive items from facility to facility.Performs other job related duties and special projects as required.Education and ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent required. Military, law enforcement, or security-related work experience preferred. Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background check annually. Must be able to be trained and certified in CPR and AED use. Be able to be trained in First Aid, O.C. Spray, Use of Force and De-escalation. Successfully complete the Field Training Program. A valid driver’s license with no restrictions is required.Physical RequirementsVisual requirements include: ability to see detail at near and far range with or without correction.Must be physically able to perform heavy work: lifting no more than 100 pounds, with frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing no more than 50 pounds. Should also be able to perform medium through sedentary work.Must be able to perform the following physical activities: Stooping, kneeling, bending, standing, reaching, lifting, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Worker CharacteristicsCommitment to the Hy-Vee Mission and a willingness to promote the values of the company.Strong leadership skills; ability to assist other members of the department.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to relate to and interact with other people in a friendly, professional manner.Ability to proactively identify problems and creatively develop and execute solutions.Ability to interact with basic computer systems, including word processing, spreadsheet and email applications, as well as job-specific programs.Possess knowledge and experience as an armed security officer, law enforcement officer, or extensive military firearms experience (preferred).Working ConditionsThis position frequently involves a fast work pace in a supply chain facility setting.
