Job summary

Nebraska Furniture Mart in The Colony, TX is seeking a Security Officer to provide an authoritative presence, protect people and property, and support a safe shopping environment. Your daily focus will be greeting customers, monitoring activity, and coordinating with store staff to resolve issues.

This role requires flexibility for night/weekend shifts, a valid driver's license, and the ability to complete mandatory training within set timelines.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
• Ability to consistently engage customers in a professional manner.
• Remain flexible to ever changing environments and adapt to different situations.
• Stamina to stand for long periods of time.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
• Certification in OC (Oleoresin Capsicum) foam deployment within one (1) year of employment and maintain certification standards (Nebraska & Kansas only).
• Satisfactorily complete NFM Response to Resistance and First Responder training courses within ninety (90) days of employment.
• Ability to obtain a non-commissioned security officer license within thirty (30) days of employment (Texas only).
• Ability to work night, weekend and/or early morning hours based on business needs.
• Pre-employment screening includes, but isn’t limited to, drug screen and criminal background check

Responsibilities

• Greet customers, visitors and vendors and help them locate staff.
• Issue electric handicapped shopping carts and assist with wheelchairs and shopping carts.
• Monitor property brought into the stores and ensure proper tagging.
• React to shoplifting, medical emergencies, and inclement weather as needed.
• Watch facilities and parking areas on foot or by vehicle; direct traffic during events while enforcing parking regulations.
• Help customers and staff with vehicle breakdowns and retrieve shopping carts from parking areas.
• Conduct preliminary investigations, audits and security surveys and document findings from incidents.

Job Duties: A Day in the Life

• Greet: Welcome all customers, visitors and vendors and assist them in locating staff within the stores
• Support: Issue electric handicapped shopping carts to customers and provide assistance in obtaining wheel chairs and shopping carts
• Monitor:Examine and properly tag property being brought into the stores
• Assess: React as necessary and assist in handling any situations – shoplifting, medical emergencies and inclement weather
• Patrol:Watch facilities and parking areas on foot or in a vehicle. Direct traffic during special events or heavy customer traffic, while enforcing parking regulations
• Assist: Help customers and staff with vehicle break-downs and lock-outs and retrieve shopping carts from parking areas
• Report:Conduct preliminary investigations, audits and security surveys and document the findings
