Job summary

Allied Universal is seeking a Security Officer Full Time Unarmed Patrol Ambassador in Chicago, IL to serve and safeguard clients across education and other sectors. You will monitor assigned areas, maintain a visible presence, and support a welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors while delivering excellent customer service.

The role includes responding to incidents, conducting patrols, controlling access, and reporting concerns with integrity.

Qualifications

• Customer service experience preferred.
• Be at least 18 years old for unarmed roles; 21+ for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Background check required by law.
• Drug screen required where permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements may be required by state/local laws.
• Valid driver's license for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, visitors, and campus community while following site procedures.
• Respond to incidents, medical emergencies, and other critical situations calmly and in line with campus protocols.
• Conduct regular foot and vehicle patrols of campus buildings, residence halls, parking areas, and perimeter locations.
• Monitor for unusual conditions or hazards and report incidents promptly to the proper personnel.
• Assist with access control, directions, escorts, and general information maintaining a professional presence on campus.

Pay Rate: $19.50 / Hour

What You'll Do:

• Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, visitors, and/or campus community members while carrying out site-specific security-related procedures, policies, and emergency response activities.
• Respond to incidents, access concerns, medical emergencies, and other critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner, following established campus protocols.
• Conduct regular and random foot and/or vehicle patrols of campus buildings, academic areas, residence halls, parking areas, and perimeter locations to help to deter unauthorized activity.
• Monitor for unusual conditions, potential hazards, and security-related concerns; document observations and promptly report incidents to appropriate personnel.
• Assist with access control, directions, escorts, and general information while maintaining a professional presence in a higher education environment.

Minimum Requirements:

• Customer service experience is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
