UVM Home Health, Inc. is seeking a Security Officer to ensure safety and security across the campus. The role involves conducting patrols, responding to emergencies, and managing potentially violent situations. Candidates should have a high school diploma and a valid driver's license, with prior security experience preferred.
This position may have variable shift times. You may be required to work days, evenings, or nights. Weekend needs for this position may also vary depending on the department's request.
Each University of Vermont Medical Center Security Officer is assigned to a specific campus. The primary responsibilities include conducting patrols, responding promptly to emergency and non-emergency calls for assistance, and documenting services provided during each shift. Security Officers are expected to act courteously and professionally at all times.
Note: Emergency calls often require Security Officers to take the lead in managing violent or threatening situations after attempts at verbal de-escalation by clinical and non-clinical staff. Security intervention may involve detaining and/or restraining violent patients, visitors, or staff members.
Prior security or public safety experience is preferred, especially in providing a safe and dignified environment in stressful situations with a diverse population of patients, visitors, and staff.
